Biogeography & Exclusivity: A rare and collectible exotic taxon, native to the unique peatland ecosystems of Madagascar. This variety is highly prized in ornamental bryology for its unusual provenance and resilience in cultivation.
Chromatism & Diagnosis: The most distinctive trait of this phenotype is its extreme pigmentary response. Under appropriate lighting conditions, its phyllids synthesize high concentrations of sphagnorubins, shifting from green to a stunning intense burgundy red or deep wine hue. Morphologically robust ("Grandidente"), it forms dense, deep carpets.
