Sphagnum fallax, comúnmente conocido como musgo de turbera, es una especie de musgo que prospera en condiciones ácidas y extremadamente húmedas. Este musgo puede presentar una variedad de colores, desde un verde brillante hasta tonos de amarillo, bronce e incluso naranja. Se caracteriza por su tacto suave y su capacidad para crecer en grandes tamaños.

Se compone de un tallo principal con fascículos de ramas, generalmente de dos a tres ramas extendidas y de dos a cuatro ramas colgantes1. La parte superior de la planta, o capítulo, contiene fascículos de ramas jóvenes densamente agrupadas.

Este musgo se distribuye ampliamente en el Hemisferio Norte, especialmente en áreas de tundra húmedas1. También se encuentra en el Hemisferio Sur, principalmente en Nueva Zelanda, Tasmania, y el sur de Chile y Argentina.
