Sphagnum Denticulatum
Sphagnum denticulatum (Asian Ecotype - China)
Biogeography & Exclusivity: An import clone of Chinese provenance, a biogeographical rarity seldom found in the Western hobby. This Asian ecotype is distinguished by its genetic exclusivity, making it a premium addition for biotope terrariums and specialized botanical collections.
Morphology & Diagnosis: A medium-to-large species within the Subsecunda section, featuring a robust habit. It is characterized by dense, branching structures topped by a distinctively spherical or globose capitulum (apical rosette). Its epithet (denticulatum) refers to the microstructure of its phyllids, lending the plant a rich and defined visual texture.
Chromatism & Ecology: While its basal coloration ranges from olive to dark green, it is a reactive bryophyte: under specific light and moisture conditions, it develops a golden-brown or bronze patina. It is a hydrophytic species, capable of colonizing nutrient-poor soils and inundated zones.
