Sphagnum Warnstorfii (Boreal Ecotype - Latvia)
Taxonomy & Biogeography: A specimen of Baltic provenance (Latvia), belonging to the Acutifolia section. While it has a Holarctic distribution, this specific clone exhibits a robust adaptation to the boreal climate.
Ecology & Chromatism (Diagnosis):
It is arguably the sphagnum species that develops the most intense red coloration in the genus. While it may remain deep green in the shade, under adequate light exposure, it shifts to a distinctive deep crimson red or purple-violet hue.
