Sphagnum Aciphyllum (Peru Ecotype - San Martin | 'Dark Red' Clone)

Biogeography & Exclusivity: A neotropical specimen (San Martin, Peru) belonging to the Acutifolia section. This specific clone is a botanical rarity adapted to Andean microclimates, possessing exceptional hardiness despite its delicate appearance.

Morphology & Habit: A small-to-medium-sized bryophyte that develops an extremely compact and dense (pulviniform) architecture. It is distinguished by a soft, silky structural texture. Its contained growth habit makes it the ideal symbiotic living substrate for delicate carnivorous plant terrariums, providing humidity without overgrowing the primary flora.

Extreme Chromatism ('Dark' Phenotype): This variant is renowned for its dramatic chromatic polymorphism. While it may display basal phases of mottled greens and bronzes, under appropriate light stress (high irradiance) it saturates its tissues with pigments, shifting towards spectra of blood red, deep purple, and nigrescent (near-black) tones, offering a striking visual aesthetic.
